Antlantis!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

As you know, Nicola and I have been busy testing out our products so you can see how we get on.

The Antlantis nature reserve combines an ant farm with a triop tank and a little garden, fantastic!

It takes 3 weeks to go together completely, so this week we’ve been putting the ant farm together, looking for ants (this wasn’t as productive as we’d hoped, so we’re going to order them in!), growing grass and hatching the triops, take a look at how we got on this week.

Stay tuned for next week when the next stages come together!

Grow It!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Nicola and I have been at it again, we’re testing all the best products from Prezzybox, and we’ve got our hands on a few sets of ‘Grow It!’ Kits. These are fantastic little kits that have everything you need to grow Herbs, Sunflowers, Chillis or Bonsai trees. We’ve started off our sets so you can see how we’re getting on.

This is what we’ve done so far…

1. Prepare the compost by soaking the compost disc in the pot

2. Plant Chilli Seeds

3. Plant Herb Seeds (after soaking the Parsley seeds overnight)

4. Plant Sunflower Seeds

Now, we’re going to have to wait and see what happens.

We’ll have some more detailed videos for you when we get our new blog up and running! We’ll keep you posted.

Football Pitch Update

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

We’re a little surprised at how much progress this one has made since we started on Monday. The pitch sat on a windowsil, covered in clingfilm for a few days, looking a little sorry for itself before we noticed on Thursday that some shoots had started to come through! on Friday, we gave it some water and left it for the weekend. when we left, it looked like this

On Monday, we checked on it, and miraculously, we had a pitch of lush, green, Old Trafford grass! We’ve been watering and trimming it ever since, and its doing rather well.

Many people here have commented on how sturdy our grass is, we couldn’t be happier with it. In a week or so, hopefully it will be ready to finish off and become a true pitch!

We’ll keep you updated!

The Prezzybox Doves Have Flown the Nest

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Yes, the doves (not pigoens) have gone, and we were there with the camera (for some of it at least)

They started shifting around in the nest in the morning

Then after sitting on the dish for a while they were gone.

The empty nest looks a little lonely now, we hope they’ll be back next year

In other news, we’ve been working hard on our new ‘Tried and Tested’ blog, coming soon to a computer near you! soon you’ll be able to see how easy it is to put together some of our kits such as the ‘Grow your own Football Pitch’ featured in a previous post and the ‘Antlantis’ nature reserve. Nicola and I are working hard and using up most of the windowsils in the farmhouse to grow things.

Nest Update

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Hey all,

the nest outside our office is getting quite full as the 2 (not 3 after all) baby pigeons are growing.

They look almost ready to fledge, so we’ll probably be saying goodbye to them soon, but maybe with a bit of luck, they’ll nest here again next year.

Aren’t they cute?!

Football Fever?

Monday, June 9th, 2008

You’d be forgiven for thinking we’ve gone a little nuts when we say that today, we at the mighty box, have begun a football project of such magnitude, it has never been attempted before. No, we’re not trying to put together a world-class football team to take of the world, we’re growing a football pitch. Old Trafford to be exact.

Using our new “Grow your own football pitch” kit (available at prezzybox.com) Nicola and myself enlisted the help of Alistair, our new work experience chappie, to take on the challenge of growing the pitch. Take a look at how we got on this morning.

We’ll be giving you updates every so often so keep posted to see if the seeds will grow!

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Spring is here, apparently, and nature is flourishing around the farmhouse. We’ve even got our own ‘Springwatch’ going on outside with the addition of 3 cute little chicks nesting behind our satelite dish!

We grabbed the camera and took some pictures of the cute fluffy chicks

Cute Chicks! Cute Chicks!
