Boo!

Posted by Nicola on Wednesday Nov 4, 2009 Under Winners Announced

Aloha!

Well as most of you will know, the Halloween competition has closed. We’ve been reading through your fantastic stories & poems and we’ve picked the three lucky winners.

In First Place…

Alistair with his bone-chilling tale of spooks in the graveyard…

“Many years ago I worked on the wholesale fruit and veg market in Manchester. I started work at 3 am and had to walk in from Fallowfield.

One morning I was late setting off, so I decided to take a short cut through the graveyard to Stockport road. At that time of morning there is usually no traffic and nobody about.  As I walked through the very dark and misty graveyard I expected silence, but as I approached the middle I could hear a faint tapping. I walked on and the tapping grew louder. It was the sound of metal hitting stone.

The hair on my neck stood up as I walked on, nervously looking around. The sound grew louder as I walked towards the distant street lights on the road. My heart beat faster as the tapping came nearer. Looking around, nervously , I spotted through a clearing in the mist, a little old man with hammer and chisel working on a gravestone.

Angry that he (and my imagination) had scared me so much I stormed over to him and yelled, “What on earth are you doing working here at this time of night? You scared me half to death.” He looked at me and replied, “They spelt my name wrong!”"

In Second place…

Emma with her funny poem of gruesome gift disasters…

“If you scare easily, then do not read on For if you do, regret it you will.

I’m about to tell a tale so full of dread It will make your heart stand still.

This story goes back to a forgotten time When I was young and naïve.

I ordered gifts online for friends And the ending you will not believe…

My order arrived, three weeks late (My best friend’s birthday had passed)

The contents were shoddy, damaged and cheap I was quite literally aghast.

I was horrified at how much I had paid For products so poor, they caused shocks.

My friends were astounded when I told them my tale And recommended instead, Prezzy Box.

And so a happy ending my story does have For Prezzy Box I finally found.

With misery behind me and only good things ahead I now get more for my pound.

No more horror stories, no further tales of woe, Prezzy Box is second to none.

For quality gifts and award winning service Prezzy Box is my number one!”

Finally, in Third place…

Scott (age 6) with his delightful halloween tale…

“On halloween night, all the children were dressed in their halloween costumes ready to go trick or treating, as children were knocking door to door to get their goodies someone was following them hiding in the shadows.

He waited until the children’s goodie bags were filled to the top, then he jumped out of the shadows making ghostly noises, “ooh ooooh” the children were so frightened they dropped their goodie bags and ran away screaming, he picked up the goodie bags and returned to the shadows laughing to himself.

The children got home and told their mums and dads about the ghost, who came out to look for the bad ghost to get their sweets back and the ghost was never to be seen again, the chidlren were so upset the parents went home to make and have a halloween party.

The children liked making halloween biscuits, cakes and playing funny games, the ghost was watching the children have a wonderful time through the window and knocked on the door to return their goodie bags and say sorry, the children were very happy to have their sweets back and invitied the ghost in to join their party. :)

Congratulations to all our Halloween winners, hampers full of halloween goodies are now winging their way to their doors!

Thank you to everyone who entered, I loved reading each and every one of your fantastic stories and poems and I hope you had a great Halloween.

Halloween Party Games!

Posted by Nicola on Tuesday Oct 27, 2009 Under Competitions, General Chat

Hello!

Are you carving your pumpkins ready for the big night on Saturday? That’s right, Halloween is just around the corner and while you get yourself ready for a monster halloween party, I’d like to share some fantastic party tips with you all.

Firstly, get yourself some Gelli Baff

And one of the fantastically scary Horrid Henry Mega Mischief Sets

When you’ve got your goodies, fill a basin with water and use the Gelli Baff to turn it into a deliciously gruesome goo. next, take the wiggly worms, spiders, teeth and other nasty things from the Horrid Henry Mega Mischief Set and drop them in the goo. Give it a good stir and bring in your contestants.

Blindfold them and then you can either assign a score to each nasty thing in the goo (the worms would score highest as they’re gooey too and a little more difficult to find)  or you can see how long it takes each contestant to find and remove all the goodies from the basin of goo.

The Mega Mischief Set is also great for playing pranks on your halloween guests, and if you have more Gelli Baff left over, it’s a great way to give your kids a new, fun bathtime experience for Halloween!

Don’t forget, there’s still time to enter our Halloween competition! write a spooky poem or story to be in with a chance of winning a copy of ‘Drag Me To Hell’ on DVD and loads more Halloween goodies inclluding some Gelli Baff and a Horrid Henry Wicked Trick.

More fantastic Halloween party tips coming soon…

Holidays and Postal Strikes

Posted by Nicola on Friday Oct 23, 2009 Under Competitions, Uncategorized

Good afternoon Prezzy Peeps and a Happy Friday to you all!

The clocks go back on Sunday and with it comes the countdown to Christmas! I hope you’re getting yourself ready.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet, there are a couple more celebrations to be had before the winter months. Halloween’s coming up next week and if you haven’t entered our competition already, go ahead and do it now!

There’s also Divali coming up quite soon, and for those Jewish folk among us, there’s Hanukah. We’d love to know what you’re celebrating and how you’re celebrating it!

Now, as a lot of you will know, there is a nationwide postal strike going on. Let us re-assure you now that the strike shouldn’t affect most of the orders made at Prezzybox.

If you want to find out more information about what we’re doing to make sure you get your gifts on time this year, and if you’ll be affected, click on the button below.

We’re committed to making your holidays fantastic, and we’d love to hear about your celebrations! Send us a comment and let us know what you’re up to.

Lastly, as its Friday, here’s a video to put a smile on your face. It’s the latest offering from Improv Everywhere, enjoy…

Until Next Week…

Halloween Spookfest!

Posted by Nicola on Thursday Oct 8, 2009 Under Competitions, Prezzyboxers Love...

Hi There!

The seasons are changing and the air is getting chillier. I even wore my gloves in the car on the way to work this morning, a clear sign that summer has left us and Autumn is well and truly here.

People think I’m crazy for loving Autumn, but October is undoubtedly my favourite month of the year, partly because of the Halloween spookfest that occurs on the 31st. To celebrate the coming holiday we’re giving you a treat, but only if you can trick us first.

We want to hear your spooky stories and petrifying poetry. If you can include some of your favourite Prezzybox Products, it might be worth a bonus point!

We’ve got some great treats for you this year. Firstly, we’ve got 2 copies of the best horror film of the year – “Drag Me To Hell” Sam Raimi’s triumphant return to the horror genre. I’m a massive Sam Raimi fan, and if you are too, you’ll love this movie!

There are also got loads of halloween goodies to treat you with including our Halloween Jelly Moulds, Pink Sun Jars, Gelli Baff, Butchered Apron and some Horrid Henry Wicked Tricks and Pranks.

So get writing and enter the competition now for a chance to win!

Please take note that entrants under 15 won’t be able to win the Drag Me To Hell DVD. But we’ve got tons more goodies for you if you win.

Don’t forget, there’s still time to enter our competition to win a fantastic holiday for 2 to St Petersburg/Clearwater Florida! Enter here for your chance to win.

So get entering and good luck!
