Happy Friday, Prezzybox Army!

The boss comes back on Monday, so we’ve been enjoying our last week of craziness before order is restored. We’re hoping they’ll be back with loads of stories from their 3 week romp around Oz (and maybe some presents for the staff, pretty please?) Perhaps we’ll even put some of their holiday snaps up on here!

I’m sure you’ve all be waiting with baited breath to find out who won our big Valentine’s Day competition! Well, wait no more. The golden envelope is here and we are very happy to announce our loved-up winners!

In third place…..

Abereat Sabir!

“Would you believe it could all start from a game of hide and seek?

As I put on the blindfold, I walked around with my arms outstretched. Well, I don’t mean to boast, but I am very good at this game. All my other senses come alive as I become attuned to the movements around me. However, one of my friends decided to slip out of the room. As I followed, I seemed to lose my co-ordinates. Bang! I walked straight into the door of the cupboard under the stairs! Suddenly, I heard a floorboard creak. Frustrated, I began to berate my friend for leaving the room. As I made my way along the hallway to the foot of the stairs…I misjudged my location again. Bang! I’d walked into the staircase railing again! Now definitely frustrated I climbed the stairs to where I knew my friend was. I grabbed hold of her foot and said victoriously, ‘See I got you!’

As I pulled off my blindfold to my horror I realised, this was not my friend! There sitting on that step of the staircase, the person whose foot I was holding was….no other than my whole future, smiling down goofily at me, as the blood rushed to my face!”

We loved his story of ‘blind love’ (geddit?) So much that we awarded him third prize!

In Second Place….

Naomi Muggeridge!

“I was a student nurse living with three other nurses. One of the girls had a boyfriend in the RAF. One evening he came over with a friend to mend her car. As I was leaving to go out for the evening I walked past a tall, dark handsome stranger standing in my hall.
The following day I asked my friends boyfriend about the stranger and he said ‘oh, he’s going to phone you later, he had a dream about you last night and you were feeding him crumpets!’ ..’mmmm!’ said I, ‘crumpets!!’ and the rest is history..One dog, 2 cats, 2 rabbits and 2 children later…”

Crumpets are always a massive hit in the Prezzybox office and when crumpets and love mix, the results are spectacular!

A load of valentine’s goodies are winging their way to the lucky winners as we speak!

And finally, Last but most definitely not least, Our Grand Prize Winner!

In First Place…… (drum roll please)

Carroll Marsh!

“I met my gorgeous hubby in 1978 in weirdly funny, yet sad circumstances. I was visiting my lovely Gran, when she said she had a decorator upstairs. I made a cup of tea and she called him down. I didn’t really fancy him that much as we all sat down on the settee with our cuppas.
Gran loved her budgie, Billy, who was flying round the room.

Suddenly Billy landed on Gary, the decorator’s foot at just about the split second he was crossing his legs. Next thing I knew poor Billy was hurtling through the air heading towards the lovely roaring coal fire!!

It was like slow motion Aaaaargh! We still laugh about it!!!”

This story made us laugh and cringe in equal measure (I also have her word that they bought Gran a new budgie after the incident!)

So congratulations, Carroll, the Edible Arrangement and all those other goodies are on their way to you now!

Aloha!

Well as most of you will know, the Halloween competition has closed. We’ve been reading through your fantastic stories & poems and we’ve picked the three lucky winners.

In First Place…

Alistair with his bone-chilling tale of spooks in the graveyard…

“Many years ago I worked on the wholesale fruit and veg market in Manchester. I started work at 3 am and had to walk in from Fallowfield.

One morning I was late setting off, so I decided to take a short cut through the graveyard to Stockport road. At that time of morning there is usually no traffic and nobody about.  As I walked through the very dark and misty graveyard I expected silence, but as I approached the middle I could hear a faint tapping. I walked on and the tapping grew louder. It was the sound of metal hitting stone.

The hair on my neck stood up as I walked on, nervously looking around. The sound grew louder as I walked towards the distant street lights on the road. My heart beat faster as the tapping came nearer. Looking around, nervously , I spotted through a clearing in the mist, a little old man with hammer and chisel working on a gravestone.

Angry that he (and my imagination) had scared me so much I stormed over to him and yelled, “What on earth are you doing working here at this time of night? You scared me half to death.” He looked at me and replied, “They spelt my name wrong!”"

In Second place…

Emma with her funny poem of gruesome gift disasters…

“If you scare easily, then do not read on For if you do, regret it you will.

I’m about to tell a tale so full of dread It will make your heart stand still.

This story goes back to a forgotten time When I was young and naïve.

I ordered gifts online for friends And the ending you will not believe…

My order arrived, three weeks late (My best friend’s birthday had passed)

The contents were shoddy, damaged and cheap I was quite literally aghast.

I was horrified at how much I had paid For products so poor, they caused shocks.

My friends were astounded when I told them my tale And recommended instead, Prezzy Box.

And so a happy ending my story does have For Prezzy Box I finally found.

With misery behind me and only good things ahead I now get more for my pound.

Finally, in Third place…

Scott (age 6) with his delightful halloween tale…

“On halloween night, all the children were dressed in their halloween costumes ready to go trick or treating, as children were knocking door to door to get their goodies someone was following them hiding in the shadows.

He waited until the children’s goodie bags were filled to the top, then he jumped out of the shadows making ghostly noises, “ooh ooooh” the children were so frightened they dropped their goodie bags and ran away screaming, he picked up the goodie bags and returned to the shadows laughing to himself.

The children got home and told their mums and dads about the ghost, who came out to look for the bad ghost to get their sweets back and the ghost was never to be seen again, the chidlren were so upset the parents went home to make and have a halloween party.

The children liked making halloween biscuits, cakes and playing funny games, the ghost was watching the children have a wonderful time through the window and knocked on the door to return their goodie bags and say sorry, the children were very happy to have their sweets back and invitied the ghost in to join their party. ”

Well, the votes are in.

They’ve been counted and recorded and we can now officially reveal that your favourite Weenicons are…

Plonker and Ultra Violent! It’s official, they’re the nations favourite.

They beat off heavy competition from Burnin Love, Pity the Fool, Champ, Sergeant and Che for the top spot but found themselves equally matched at the top!
